11 Months Old

Today is Samuel's 11 month old birthday! It's getting harder to get him to sit still in the chair for his picture every month, thus the sunglasses in the above picture. It was the only way I could get him to sit still and even then he was crawling away seconds after this picture was taken.
Here are his developments this month...
- He walks while pushing things... chairs and his "bike" are his favorite (video coming soon)
- He signs"please" - It's supposed to be rubbing your chest, but he rubs his leg, his tummy, my chest, or his chest. He's getting better at it though. He sometimes will sign "more" and "all done," but he's not very consistent and I don't think he get's it yet.
- Seperation anxiety has emerged on a whole new level! I took him to the church nursery on Sunday and before I could leave the room he just started screaming. I picked him up again and he already had the "whimphles." (I'm not sure what that's actually called, but that's what mom calls it.) He did end up staying in nursery and never cried again, but did the same thing the next day when Fredrick walked out of the room for a second.
- He blows bubbles in the pool now. He has his mouth wide open, then blows some bubbles, then forgets to pull his head above water to breath and gets all choked up. We're still working on the breathing part, but he figured out the bubble part :).
- He won't sleep with mommy and daddy anymore :(. We tried to get him to take a nap in our bed on Sunday afternoon, but he would not go to sleep. As soon as we took him up to his crib, he was out.
- He's really looking forward to going to the beach next week for the first time!

Blankie

Samuel has become quite attached to his blankie over the past few weeks. Whenever he finds it, he puts his thumb in his mouth and rolls around on the floor while holding his blanket. It usually stays in his crib, but if we are playing up there he reaches through the bars and pulls it out. We now have one more thing that must be brought with us when we go places over night :).

Baby Pool

We got our baby pool out the other day and set it up for Samuel to go swimming. I actually bought this last year because I didn't want to go to a public pool when I was 8 months pregnant. :) But, it works great now as well! Samuel loved it so I'm sure it will be set up several times over the course of the summer.

Church Picnic

We had our church picnic last Sunday at a local park. It's a great place with caves to explore, creeks to splash in, and of course a picnic area. We had church out there, which consisted of Samuel doing his funny crawl (on his feet because the rocks hurt his knees) in the very back trying to keep quiet while other worshiped.
He was fascinated with the rocks...
And, he went "swimming"... The water was freezing cold, but he got in for a few minutes. He just picked up and threw the rocks over and over again. So entertaining :).
