21 Months Old

Some new things this month...
- He talks a lot... Often just babbling unintelligibly, but he often throws in a recognizable word here or there. Or, he labels something and continues to label it until someone acknowledges what he's saying.

- He's created his own language. He continues to make up words that sound nothing like the real word. For Example: "Gee" = blanket, "Lolo" = water, "Guguck" = Trash Truck (or any big truck), "Die Die" = butterfly, "Gaga" = dog, "Dodo" = G'daddy, and many more I can't think of right now.

- He recognizes letters everywhere. We will be driving down the road and he'll yell out "s" or "d" when he sees a sign with these letters. He recognizes the letters in his name along with "d."

- He runs everywhere. I chased him around the entire outer circle of Best Buy this morning and then he went around again with Papa.

- He climbs on anything. He spent a good 20 minutes the other day climbing on and off the ottoman over and over again.

- He had his second bout of scary sickness. He's been sick other times, but only twice in his life has it been really scary. Last January he had RSV and a couple weeks ago he had Croup. I had heard of croup before, but didn't realize how terrifying it was for him and me. He woke up coughing, then couldn't breath, then would scream cause he was scared, and the cycle continued all night long. We debated going to the ER several times, but then his breathing would calm down and he'd fall asleep again. So, we made it to the dr. first thing the next morning, got on some steroids, and has been fine ever since. He was completely pathetic for about 12 hours, coughing and horse for about another 24 hours, and then back to his old self. He sure bounced back fast!!
This is where he decided to fall asleep when he was sick...

Easter 2010

He is Risen!!

We celebrated Easter this year with Gigi and Dido. Samuel was glad to have them around. Of course we are going to need an extra room in our new house for all the stuff they brought Samuel :) We gave Samuel his Easter basket before church and then got all dressed up in our Sunday best for church. Samuel must have known it was a special Sunday, because he made it all the through half the sermon before going to nursery! He really didn't even need to go then, but we knew we still had a while before the end and he was starting to talk quite loudly :)

The Safari in Arkansas

We finally decided to check out the Gentry Drive Through Safari with my parents last weekend. I'm so glad we did! I really thought it would be cheesy, but it was pretty well done. Samuel had fun, although I think he was more excited to be out of his car seat than to see the animals :) I took a ton of pics, but don't want to bore you by posting them all. If you haven't been, you should definitely make the trip! Here are some of the highlights from our visit...

More Pics from Philly

Ready to go... waiting for papa to park the car and help us into the airport. He loves his carseat, even if it's not in the car!
After the DVD player failed to work... we attempted listening to the Ipod for entertainment.
After dropping off Sam in Nashville...
Breakfast at the Reading Terminal Market... If you ever come to visit us in Philly, we will probably take you to this market! We liked it so much we went back the next day :)
Drenched by the horrible weather we experienced... This was actually just how wet we got from art museum to cab and cab to hotel. We had already changed clothes once after getting stuck about a half mile from our hotel in the downpour and with no cab willing to pick us up... Yeah, it was fun :)
A nice dinner out... One of many!

Weekend at the lake

These pictures are from a few weeks ago... sorry for the delay folks. We headed to Branson for a weekend at the lake. We've been doing this every Spring Break for the past three years. I no longer have a Spring Break, but love participating in the tradition! It was a weekend of relaxing, watching basketball, shopping, eating good food, and hanging out with great friends. Samuel has been the only little one who has participated in this annual event, but next year will be joined by 3 little friends! He is excited for some company, but still had fun hanging out with the big people. I loved having 13 other adults around to help keep an eye on my busy little toddler!

Easter Party

Samuel hosted his friends for an Easter party Thursday morning. We had an easter egg hunt and dyed easter eggs... which went surprisingly well considering the ages of the children. We also played with the sand and water table a lot! The kids were a mess, but had so much fun! Collecting eggs...
