8 Months Old

Today is Samuel's 8 month old birthday. He's growing up so fast! We celebrated by going to our first swim class this morning. It was so much fun! More on that later.

So, here are some of Samuel's recent developments...

- he's CRAWLING!! More on that later as well. I've been working on getting a good video, but haven't been able to capture it like I would like to. That also means, this better be a short post as he's not just going to sit next to me while I post this :)

- I got a glimpse of his third tooth this morning.

- Eating is finally getting better! He will still refuse food every once in a while, but we discovered if you add applesauce everything is better!

- We've experienced more of the seperation anxiety thing. He wants to be on the floor so he can move around, but he wants to be with mommy as well. So, I sit next to him while he plays on the floor.

- I'm not saying anything about sleep because every time I do he stops sleeping well. So, no news is good news on that aspect of babyhood!

I don't have height/weight measurements for this month as we don't go back to the doctor until 9 months.

Gigi's Spring Break

My mom was on Spring Break last week, so she decided to come spend the week with Samuel. We had a great visit. It was fun to have company while doing our regular activities of the week. We headed out shopping one day, went to play group and story hour, and I was able to go to work an extra day that week. Gigi cooked all our meals and cleaner our whole house too... THANKS MOM! Bud and I were able to go on a date and have free babysitting, which was also nice!

Picky Eater

Samuel is a very picky eater. He love sweet potatoes, but not avacado (or anything else green for that matter). Here's a video of Bud trying to feed him sweet pot. (as we refer to it around here) and avacado. Sorry for the long video... I tried to shorten it, but I guess I did it wrong.

A new trick

Samuel is now able to go from laying on his stomach to sitting up. This is how I found him when he woke up from his nap a few days ago. (Yes, we are still wearing Christmas PJs... they're not going to fit next Christmas, so we might as well get use out of them now. :))

Big boy cup

We tried a big boy cup last week, just for fun, with no success. Most of it ended up on his lap, thus the lack of clothing. But, he had fun trying.

Again, Clara is always within 2 feet of the camera when it is out. So, she got her head in this one a little.

Naked Boy

Well, not completely naked. Sam pooped on his shirt, so we took it off (obviously) and it was close to pj time so we didn't put another shirt on him right away. He looked so cute with his little fat rolls rolling over the top of his pants :) Clara had to get in on the picture taking action... of course.

Beatiful Day!

I can't remember what day this was, but one day last week was BEAUTIFUL! So, Sam and I went and sat out on the porch and watched the world go by. It was also a good distraction for him as he wasn't enjoying being inside too much :) I'm looking forward to Spring when a walk around the block will be a possible diversion any day!

The Swimming Pool

We took Sam to the Walton Fitness Center swimming pool a few weeks ago. He wasn't thrilled about the idea of swimming, but he was adorable in his swimming suit. He clung to us really tightly, but the only time he cried was when we tried to put him down on the steps to play like he does in the bath tub. The water was really warm, but he still wasn't so sure about it. We'll try again soon. It was still a fun family outing.

7 Months Old

Sam turned 7 months old... sometime. Because February is a short month, he never officially had a 7 month birthday (it would have been on the 30th). So, we are celebrating today :)

Here are his new developments this month...

- He gets on his knees and rocks back and forth... I keep exepcting him to take off crawling, but he hasn't yet.

- He's sleeping!! Through the night and long naps! Yeah!!

- We've discovered he's a picky eater. The food has to be the perfect consistency and the perfect taste. Half the time he won't take anything at all. We're figuring it out though... slowly, but surely.

- He added a new sound to his reperatoire... "pfff." I think it's because of his PFister genetics.

- He can go from sitting to belly and spin in circles.

- He sucks his thumb and twirls his hair to go to sleep (Similar to his Aunt Gretchen when she was little).

- He still LOVES Clara and laughs or smiles at her every time she walks in the room. She even knocked him over several times and he doesn't hold it against her. When we pick him up from a nap he immediately looks down at the floor to see Clara (She often comes and greats him when he wakes up).

- He's usually really happy and content playing by himself for about an hour. Then mommy entertains him for another hour. Then he's off to bed again. I'm glad we are finally on a fairly predictable routine!

- I can't really think of anything else... He just does everything better than he did before. He can grab toys better, pass them from hand to hand, sit up better, etc.
