East Nashville Tomato Festival

Our neighborhood puts on this festival every year. It's quite the event to celebrate a piece of food. They go overboard with costumes and tomato themed everything and it is a blast! We celebrate the tomato as "a uniter, not a divider… bringing fruits and vegetables together." I'm already looking forward to next years festival. Samuel got to run his first official race. He's so proud of his participation medal.

Both kids got their faces painted. Samuel LOVED his and was in tears when we had to wash it off. He has carried this picture with him many places to show others…

Emma was a beautiful butterfly, but hers was smeared before we left the face painting booth…

Kindergarten

So we have finished our first full week of kindergarten. Samuel had a good week overall. He's been great at getting up and going, but is pretty worn out in the evenings. He had a hard time mid week when he realized he had to go all day again (the first two days were half days) and even tried to fake a cough, but pulled himself together. We don't get too many details out of him at the end of the day, but are slowly finding things out as he gets in the mood to share. He usually tells us "I don't remember" when we ask what he did that day, but as something triggers his memory he will go on and on about it. He says his favorite parts are when they go to PE, Recess, and the library. We are excited about this year and I'm glad there are lots of opportunities for me to help out! It's a lot different being on the parent side of the school system.

The school year has meant some shifts in our sleep schedule. Which means bed at 7, up at 6:45, and Emma's nap has had to be cut back to accommodate pick up. This day I carried her sleeping to the stroller and she continued to sleep most of the walk to get him. It's taking some adjusting for all of us. I mean I actually have to set an alarm again. :)

Samuel is so sleepy in the afternoons and he napped for almost 4 hours on Saturday, but he has done fairly well for a kid who napped every few days up until last week.

Frame worthy Beach Pictures

We tried to get some pictures of all of us since we were all together. The key word is "tried"… the kids attitudes were not ideal. But at least the adults look decent…

Beach Time

We spent last week at Rosemary Beach and had a fabulous time with my family. It was fun to all be able to be there together. Samuel surprised us by jumping right in with a boogie board and riding the waves without any fear. In the past he hasn't even wanted to put his feet in the water. Emma was really excited about our kite and eating snacks on the beach.
