The Dramas of Moving

Overall, our move went pretty smoothly, except for a few things...

- Our Queen size box spring was too big to fit up the stairwell to our bedroom. They squeezed the mattress up there, but the box spring wouldn't budge. So, we now have two box springs... the same one, cut in half, and put back together with some plywood.

- The streets up here are very narrow, the power lines/cable lines are very low... As our moving van driver was parking in front of our house, he yanked our neighbor's cable/phone lines out of their house, pulling down a shutter in the process. Our sweet driver, did nothing about it... The neighbors were really understanding, although I'm sure it wasn't fun to come home to that after they had been away on vacation for over two weeks.

- The washer was about an eighth of an inch (or less) too wide to fit through the door frame to the basement stairs. A crow bar nicely pulled off the molding to allow it to fit.

And, unrelated to moving...

A word of advice to parents of infants/toddlers. If you are going to fly with an under two year old, don't forget the proof of age papers (birth certificate/shot record)! On our way to Florida, while taking the shuttle from the parking lot, I realized I had no paperwork for Sama Lama. They wouldn't print his boarding pass until we proved his age or bought him a ticket (I don't think we would have really been able to buy him a ticket though because the flight was completely booked). Thankfully, there is a time difference between here and our doctor's office in Bentonville. The doctors office was open, they answered on the first ring, and were very willing to help us out! Of course, they needed a release form first before they could send us his shot record and the lady helping us at the Southwest counter was moving so slow! So after faxing papers back and forth, watching the Southwest lady saunter back to the fax machine several times, and a couple signatures, we made it through security and walked straight onto our plane, right on schedule. But, I think the stress knocked a few days off my due date :)
