Sam - Emma wants to be a butterfly (for Halloween).

Mommy - Emma's costume isn't ready yet.

Aunt Alyssa was putting eye drops in her eyes...
Sam - "Is that medicine? Your eyes broked?"

Sam was crying and whining for some unknown reason, stops suddenly and says stunned, "My eyes got water in them!"

He loves to make up words and assign us characters so several times a day I hear,
"Mommy you be Keke, She (Emma) will be Meh, and I will be Geapa." The names change, but we all always have our assignments.

Some things sound so much worse coming from a three year old. Some phrases Sam has picked up from me (and Gigi)...
[Emma crying], Sam sighs, rolls his eyes, and says, "Oh my word!"
I tried to open the door, but realized it was locked. Sam says, "Dang it." 

Craft Projects

Thanks to Pinterest, I have begun to sew and am really starting to enjoy it. Although I still have a lot to learn, it's been fun to try new things and a great nap time activity. However, the cleanliness of my house is suffering from my new hobby. 

Here's what I've been up to lately... 

Shorts... tutorial found here. I love this blog's tutorials. They are pretty simple and she explains things really well.

I took this picture before adding the flower to the headband...

This dress only lasted for a couple of wears because it was impossible to get on and off of her. I need to work on adding zippers next I suppose.

 Samuel's guitar outfit... The pants are lined with sweat pant material, so they are super comfy. I used the tutorial here for the pants and got my inspiration from here.

Pumpkin Patch

When Mom and Dad came to visit we took a trip to the pumpkin patch, or Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards. It was a pretty impressive production. Hayrides and pumpkins of course, but also apple sling shots, pony rides, other animals, huge playground, a sand sculptor who was amazing, two mazes, apple picking, and plenty of home cooked goodies. Fun to experience with Gigi and Dodo.

10 Months Old

Baby girl is busy! She is growing up way too fast in my opinion! New this month... 

- Pulling up to standing on everything. She loves to stand and is beginning to cruise. It's so cute to see her standing at the edge of her crib when I go get her from her naps. Glad we lowered the crib when we did! 

- Her new found talent for pulling up has made it a bit more difficult for her to fall asleep. But, once asleep, she's sleeping wonderfully... usually. 

- She initiates Peek-a-Boo. She LOVES to play peek-a-boo with anyone who will watch. 

- Yesterday she climbed up 6 steps with no fear what so ever. 

- Emma certainly keeps me on my toes! She's into everything, puts everything in her mouth (her favorite is to eat paper), and has no fear. She bumps her head multiple times a day and I am constantly doing a mouth sweep to see what she's eating now. Though it can be exhausting, it sure is fun to watch her explore and discover new things! 

- I caught her dancing this morning... with the biggest grin on her face. :) 

- She continues to babble in mostly b- and d- sounds, although I'm working hard on getting her to say "mama". 

- She had her first ear infection. No fever, no whining, no tears when we went in for her check up. I had no idea anything was wrong. She's such a tough girl! She has since whined and tugged at her ears, but is feeling much better now. 

- Emma is such a joyful little girl. She is always making friends with strangers when we go out, smiling and playing peek-a-boo. She is always the center of attention at Walmart and Chipotle (the places we go most).

Now for the outtakes... She was so happy while I was taking her picture, but also very wiggly and loving bouncing, climbing, and jumping on the chair. I had a hard time taking her picture and being ready to catch her before she dove off the chair. Don't fear, no children were injured during this photo session.

Aunt Alyssa's Visit

Aunt Alyssa came to see us! Yay! Or, "Aunt Wynnsa" as Sam calls her. Alyssa has been in Kenya for the past two years, but has spent the last two weeks with us. It was so good to see her again and introduce her to my little princess. She actually got to spend two whole weeks living with us! Samuel loved having someone else around to play church with and Emma loved having another set of hands to meet her every demand. I loved spending time with her and being here to talk about all the exciting things going on in her life during those two weeks. She was accepted by World Harvest Missions (WHM) as part of a team to start serving as medical missionaries in Burundi Africa in 2013! WHM office happens to be 10 minutes down the road from us, so we were able to house her during her interviews and orientation. So, now that she was accepted, she has begun raising support.
