Fourth in DC

All of my upcoming blog posts are going to be completely out of order. I have a lot to catch up on, but I still want to record our recent adventures on here.

We spent the Fourth of July in Washington DC this year. Since we spent the last fourth in our nation's first capital (Philly), we wanted to spend this one in our nation's current capital. My mom and Sister Big drove with the kids and I and Bud and my dad met us there for the celebration. It was fun to be around all the hype, see the fireworks behind the Washington Monument, see some sites on foot and river boat, and take some kid friendly breaks. It was hot, so the hotel pool and sculpture garden fountain were much appreciated breaks for everyone.
Such a good Papa... We fought over who got to carry the kids. :)

Samuel had a dream come true when we found this abandoned garbage truck. He was actually very hesitant to climb up there until we showed him that no one was in the cab to drive it away. :)

Completely soaked after finding this splash park in Georgetown...
Watching the parade. Emma loved it, despite the look on her face. She kept playing her tummy drum when the bands came by.
She just looks so miserable when she's hot...
The kids loved this "bubble chair" at the hotel...
Samuel, Dodo, and Aunt Alyssa on the boat tour, a great way to get out of the sun and off our feet...
Emma was not as big a fan of the boat, because being on a boat meant that she couldn't run or climb anywhere... Gigi entertained her with a tube of lotion. :)
We sure missed the Wongs!

The parade picture makes me laugh...it looks like you are torturing both your kids. ;) Glad you had fun with family!

hahaha! So many hilarious pictures--Emma looking SO hot. Her skin is RED and her lips pout-y. Sam's face being smushed in the backpack when Bud is carrying him. And everyone looks so sweaty in all the pics--DC in the summertime is nasty! We STILL wish we got the invite! ;) Haha JK but wish we were with ya'll & could have seen Emma playing her tummy drum. I do that too.
